Description of the car Land Rover Defender 90, 110, and 130

Defender is a passenger car, all-wheel drive SUV with increased cross-country ability, manufactured by Land Rover. The beginning of production stretches back to 1948. Initially, the car was called "Land Rover Ninety" и "Land Rover One Ten". These cars replaced the previous model - "Land Rover Series".


In 1989, another model was launched - Discovery. To avoid confusion, from 1991 "Ninety" and "One Ten" were renamed to Defender 90 and Defender 110 respectively. The numbers indicate the width of the wheelbase in inches. That is, the wheelbase of the Defender 90 was 93" (2362 mm), Defender 110 - 110" (2800 mm). In 1983, the company announced a third model with a 130" (3226 mm) wheelbase, called the Land Rover 127. This model is now called the Defender 130.

At first it was a very utilitarian car and this car was primarily intended for rural residents. But during the 1990s the car tried to become more high-quality and comfortable, but without losing its legendary driving qualities.

Outstanding cross-country ability is provided by small overhangs, high ground clearance of 26 cm and huge travel of energy-intensive suspension up to 545 mm. New models are equipped with modern diesel engines from Ford with a volume of 2.2 liters and a power of 122 hp, which are installed on the Transit minibus.

The Defender is a rather unique car, the closest cars with similar characteristics are VAZ -2121 Niva, Hyundai Terracan, UAZ Hunter, Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
