Front seat back (Defender 2007+)

Removal

CAUTION: Do not attempt to adjust or disassemble the front seat recline mechanism; the front seat bracket must be replaced as a complete unit; failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to your vehicle.

1. Remove the front seat cushion.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Front seat cushion (501-10 Seat, Removal and installation).

2. Remove the front seatback bracket cover. Remove the front seatback tilt adjustment knob.



3. Remove the front seat back hinge clamp.



4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the front seat heating mat. Remove and discard the two clamps.

NOTE: Discard nuts if no longer needed.

Remove the front seat back. Unscrew the 2 nuts and bolts.

Installation

1.

NOTE: New nuts must be used.

Install the front seat back. Tighten the nuts and bolts to 23 Nm.

2. Secure the front seat heating mat wiring harness. Install new wire twist ties.

3. Install the front seat back hinge clamp.

4. Install the front seatback bracket cover. Install the front seatback tilt adjustment knob.
