- Check tire pressure. For more information, please refer to the chapter: Specifications (204-04 Wheels and tires, Specifications).
- Check the condition of the tires.
- Check the front wheel alignment. For more information, refer to the chapter: Adjusting the toe of the front wheels (204-00 Suspension - General information, General procedures).
- Check wheel balance.
NOTE: When any apparent vibration is not corrected at this stage.
NOTE: When any obvious vibration is not corrected at this stage, proceed to section «Steering Troubleshooting, Symptoms (vibration in the steering, angular oscillatory movement of the steered wheels)».
For more information, refer to the chapter: Steering system (211-00 Steering system - General information, Diagnostics and checks).
NOTE: Radial tires have elastic sidewalls that bulge, causing the tire to appear under-inflated. This is the normal condition for radial tires. Do not try to reduce this bulge by inflating the tires with higher pressure.

Tire tread wear table
CAUTION: This table is for general guidance only and does not necessarily contain all causes of abnormal tread wear.
Malfunction | Cause | Remedy |
Rapid shoulder wear | Insufficient tire pressure | Adjust tire pressure to correct |
Worn suspension components, e.g. ball joints, diagonal rod bushings, steering damper | Replace worn items
Rapid wear in the center of the tread | Increased tire pressure | Adjust tire pressure to correct |
One shoulder wear | Out of alignment | Adjust the track to normal. |
Deformed diagonal bar (panhard rod) | Check and replace worn or damaged items
«Bald» spots or «cupping» tires | Wheel imbalance | Balance wheel and tire assembly |
Increased radial runout | Check runout and replace tire if necessary
Worn shock absorber | Replace shock absorber
Excessive braking | ||
Protrusions on the tire profile | Out of alignment | Adjust the track to normal. |
Wear of suspension elements | Check and replace worn or damaged parts and replace tire
