Location and locations of unit identification numbers (Range Rover 3)

Engine number

Engine - Td6

The Td6 engine number is stamped on the left side of the cylinder block.


Engine - V8

The V8 engine number is stamped on the top side of the front of the cylinder block, below the throttle body.

Automatic transmission - Td6

The GM automatic transmission serial number is located on a plate attached to the left side of the crankcase.

Automatic transmission - V8

The serial number of the ZF automatic transmission is placed on a plate attached to the left side of the transmission housing.

Transfer case

The New Venture Gears transfer case serial number is etched into the housing boss located at the rear above the drain plug.

Body paint designation

(for US, Canada and Gulf States only)



The body color designation is applied to the left front wheel arch.
