Front seat tilt

Front seat recline has been improved by removing the bulkhead behind the front seats, allowing the front seats to recline to a greater degree than on the previous Defender 90.

This change applies to the 90 County Station Wagon model only. This model's six seating options provide greater front seat recline and increased cabin space.

Soft Top

The soft top has been replaced by an improved version made of PVC. The soft top made of PVC provides the following improvements:
  • Resistance to compression
  • There are no "zipper" fasteners
  • Resistance to dust and water penetration
  • Welded seams and joints
  • Non-cotton based construction
  • Easier cleaning
  • Upper crossbar

Upper crossbar

[The original text was published on the website: LRMAN.RU]

The upper cross member, currently used only on military vehicles, will be introduced for installation on all 2002 model year soft top vehicles. The beam is located behind the front seats and is made of large diameter steel tube with diagonal bracing for added rigidity.

6-Rear Window Wiper Relay
7-Wiper motor

The rear door now features a single-piece stamped outer skin mounted on a galvanized, hardened steel frame. This provides improved workmanship, water resistance and a minimum number of welds.

A new rear lid glass with a single-piece rubber seal has been introduced. The rear lid glass has a modified heated rear window (HRW) element that does not require wiring to be routed up the sides of the frame. The HRW heating element now has integrated Lucar connectors that provide grounding for the new center high-mounted brake light.

The interior trim panel is new and is designed to accommodate the CDL actuator and levers.

In addition, the new tailgate also contains the rear window wiper motor relay. For details, see the Windshield Wipers section.

Because the new tailgate uses the existing hinges and latch and maintains the same geometry as the previous tailgate, the new tailgate is offered as a service spare part for vehicles currently in service.
