Front headlining trim for 90 «station wagon» (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Remove the headliner element in the sunroof area.

2. Remove the sun visors.

3. Remove the interior light.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Interior Light (417-02 Interior Lighting, Removal and Installation).

4. Remove the rear view mirror and support panel.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Interior Mirror (501-09 Rear view mirrors, Removal and installation).

5. Remove 4 bolts and detach both trim panels on the A-pillars.

6. Remove the plugs and unscrew the bolts securing the front seat belts to the B-pillars.

7. Carefully detach the side trim panel retainers from the B-pillars.

8. Carefully detach the 2 fasteners on both sides that secure the headlining to the body in the door opening areas.

9. Carefully release the 5 fasteners that secure the front and rear headliner sections to the roof.

10. On both sides, pull the side trim panel inward enough to clear the rear corners of the front headliner section.

NOTE: Do not bend the roof liner when removing and installing.

Lower the headliner and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation

1. With the help of another mechanic, lift the headliner up to the ceiling.

2. Gently pull the side trim panels inward on both sides and tuck the headliner under the trim panel.

3. Insert the front section of the headliner into the recess in the rear section of the headliner and secure both sections to the support brackets using 5 fasteners.

4. Secure both sides of the front section of the headliner to the body at the door openings using fasteners.

5. Install the side clamps on the B-pillars.

6. Fasten the seat belts to the B-pillars and tighten the bolts to 32 Nm (24 ft·lbs). Install the bolt covers.

7. Install the A-pillar trim panels.

8. Install the rear view mirror.

9. Install the interior light.

10. Install sun visors.

11. Install the headliner element in the roof hatch area.
