Removal
1. Place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface and place wheel chocks under the rear wheels.
2. Raise the vehicle and place secure supports underneath it or use a lift.
3. Disconnect the steering shock absorber from the steering rod.
For more information, refer to the chapter: Steering Damper (211-03 Steering gear, Removal and installation).
4. Using the LRT-57-018 puller, disconnect the ball joint of the longitudinal steering rod from the steering arm.

5. Mark the steering arm and steering gear housing to facilitate assembly.
6. Bend the tabs on the lock washer, loosen the nut, but do not unscrew it completely.
7. Install the LRT-57-012 puller and remove the steering arm from the steering gear splines.
8. Loosen the nut and discard the lock washer.
9. Remove the steering arm.

Installation
1. Center the steering gear.
For more information, refer to the chapter: Steering Gear Centering (211-00 Steering System - General Information, General Procedures).
2. Align the alignment marks and place the steering arm onto the steering gear splines.
3. Install a new lock washer and screw on the nut. Tighten to 176 Nm and bend the tabs of the lock washer back.

4. Connect the longitudinal steering rod to the steering knuckle. Tighten the ball joint nut to 40 Nm.
5. Remove the supports or remove the vehicle from the lift.
