General procedures
Warnings:
- Batteries normally emit explosive gases that can cause injury, so keep open flames away from the battery. Always protect your face and eyes when charging or working near a battery. Always provide adequate ventilation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
- Batteries contain sulfuric acid, so avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When working near the battery, protect your face and eyes from possible splashes of acid. If acid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, immediately flush the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
CAUTION: Before disconnecting the wire from the negative battery terminal, make sure the engine is not running. Violation of this requirement may result in damage to the electrical equipment of the vehicle.
NOTE: This procedure should be used to disconnect the battery for repairs that require it.
NOTE: Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that the engine control module is (ECM) data is not required, because disconnecting the wires from the battery will erase all fault codes and engine idle / drive parameters contained in the permanent memory (KAM).
1. Find out and write down the audio unit code and radio frequency presets.
2. Remove the left front seat.

Remove the battery cover. Release the clamp.

CAUTION: Failure to follow this procedure may cause the siren to sound spontaneously when the battery is disconnected.
Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery.
- Loosen the nut.
- Turn the ignition key to the operating position.
- Turn the ignition key to the off position.
- Within 17 seconds after turning the ignition key to the OFF position (Off) Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
