Main gear shank seal (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Remove the front propeller shaft.

DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORK, Cardan shaft - front.

2. Place alignment marks on the tailpiece mounting nut and the tailpiece to facilitate subsequent assembly.

3. Using the special key LRT-54-030, hold the shank sleeve from turning and unscrew the shank fastening nut.



4. Install the LRT-99-500A tool onto the shank bushing and remove the bushing.

5. Using a lever, remove the tailstock shaft seal.

Assembly

1. Wipe the seal seat areas.

2. Using the LRT-54-029 tool, install the new seal.

3. Clean the shank bushing and mating surfaces.

4. Install the sleeve and tighten the tailpiece mounting nut until the mounting marks align.

5. Install the front propeller shaft.

6. Add oil to the front axle final drive housing.
