Removal

1. Raise the car on a lift.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

2. Remove the differential drive flange. Refer to procedure: Pinion Shoulder (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).

3. Carefully remove and discard the gear seal. Special tool: 308-529, 100-012

Installation

1. Lubricate the oil seal. Refer to procedure: Specifications (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Specifications).

CAUTION: Lubricate O-rings only with specified lubricants.

2. Using a special tool, install a new oil seal. Special tool: 205-862-1



3. Insert the seal so that the top of the cuff is pressed against the active clutch body.

4. Install the differential drive flange. Refer to procedure: Pinion Protrusion (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).

5. Install the exhaust system. Refer to procedure: Exhaust System (309-00B Exhaust System - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).
