Removal


1.
WARNING: Do not work under a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.


Raise the front of the car.

2. Apply reference marks to the flanges of the drive shaft to facilitate subsequent assembly.

3. Unscrew the 4 nuts and remove the bolts securing the propeller shaft to the differential housing.

4. Release the drive shaft and tie it to the side.

5. Using the LRT-51-003 tool to hold the final drive pinion flange, remove the flange mounting bolt.

6. Remove the main gear pinion flange.

7. Place a container to collect the oil.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the oil seal groove.


Using a suitable lever, remove the oil seal and discard it.

Installation


1. Clean the oil seal groove and the final drive pinion flange.

2. Lubricate the sealing lip of the oil seal with clean oil.

3. Using the LRT-51-010 tool, install the oil seal.

4. Install the final drive pinion flange.

5. Hold the flange using the LRT-51-003 tool and screw in the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 ft·lbs).

6. Connect the propeller shaft to the differential housing and align the reference marks.

7. Screw in the flange bolts and tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft·lbs).

8. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.

9. Add oil to the differential.
