Dismantling
1. Remove both drive shafts from the differential housing.
REAR AXLE AND MAIN DRIVE, REPAIR WORK, Rear drive shaft oil seal.
2. Put on the cardan shaft and on the flange of the drive shaft of the main gear the relative position marks to facilitate subsequent assembly.
3. Turn away 4 nuts with bolts of fastening of a cardan shaft to differential. Disconnect the propeller shaft and secure it to the side.
4. Measure and record the amount of resistance to rotation of the main drive shaft with differential.
CAUTION: The drive shafts are removed in order to properly measure the resistance to rotation.
5. While holding the shaft from turning with the tool LRT-51-003, unscrew the nut and remove it together with the washer. Dispose of the nut.
6. Remove the main gear drive shaft flange.
7. Being careful not to damage the gland seat, remove and discard the gland.
8. Remove the oil deflector.
9. Remove the bearing from the rear axle drive shaft.
10. Remove and discard deformable spacer.
Installation
1. Install a new deformable spacer.
2. Install the shaft bearing and oil deflector.
3. Wipe the driveshaft flange and oil seal seat.
4. Install the oil seal using tool LRT-51-010.
5. Install the shaft flange and washer.
6. Fix the rear axle drive shaft flange with tool LRT-51-003.
7. Fit a new nut and tighten it to 190 Nm.
8. Check the axial play of the input shaft. If there is axial play, continue to tighten the nut until the end play disappears.
9. Continue to tighten the nut until the correct preload is obtained.
10. The value of the preload of the drive shaft is 1.7-2.8 Nm. If the preload is higher, replace the deformable spacer.
WARNING: Do not tighten the nut to a torque greater than 373 Nm, as the spacer sleeve will compress too far.
11. Clean the cardan shaft flange and mating flange.
12. Install the cardan shaft on the rear axle and align the relative position marks.
13. Tighten the nuts and bolts of the cardan shaft to 65 Nm.
14. Reinstall the drive shafts.
REAR AXLE AND MAIN DRIVE, REPAIR WORK, Rear drive shaft oil seal.
15. Check the oil level in the differential.
