Rear axle seal (Freelander 2)

205-863 Installer, Halfshaft Seal

Removal

1. Raise the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

2. Remove the wheel. Refer to the procedure: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

3. Remove the halfshaft. Refer to the procedure: Rear Left Halfshaft (205-05 Rear Drive Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).

Be especially careful not to damage the mating surfaces. Be especially careful not to damage the edges of the elements.

Installation

1. Using the special tool, install the new rear axle oil seal. Special tool: 205-863

Make sure the seal is installed correctly. Be very careful not to damage the seal.

2. Install the halfshaft. Refer to the procedure: Rear Left Halfshaft (205-05 Rear Drive Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).

3. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to the procedure: Wheel and tire (204-04 Wheels and tires, Removal and installation).
