Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.
2. Remove the active clutch. Refer to procedure: Automatic Clutch (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).
3. Using the special tool, punch a hole along the outer edge of the seal. Special tool: 303-538
Be extremely careful not to damage the edges of the element. Be very careful not to damage the mating surfaces.

4. Using special tools and a self-tapping screw, remove the oil seal. Special tool: 308-615, 100-012
Be very careful not to damage the mating surfaces. Be prepared to collect any leaking oil.

Installation
1. Using the special tool, install a new pinion seal. Special tool: 205-865
Be very careful not to damage the seal. Clean the area around the element and remove any foreign material.

2. Install the active clutch. Refer to procedure: Automatic Clutch (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).
3. Check the differential case fluid level and add fluid if necessary. Refer to procedure: Draining and Filling Differential with Transmission Fluid (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, General Procedures).
