Removal


1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.


2. Remove the active clutch. Refer to procedure: Automatic Clutch (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).

3. Using the special tool, punch a hole along the outer edge of the seal. Special tool: 303-538

4. Using special tools and a self-tapping screw, remove the oil seal. Special tool: 308-615, 100-012

Installation


1. Using the special tool, install a new pinion seal. Special tool: 205-865

2. Install the active clutch. Refer to procedure: Automatic Clutch (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Removal and Installation).

3. Check the differential case fluid level and add fluid if necessary. Refer to procedure: Draining and Filling Differential with Transmission Fluid (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, General Procedures).
