Removal


1. Remove the high/low range transfer case gear mechanism.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Transfer Case Direct/Reducer Gear Shift Drive (308-07A Transfer Case - ID4 2.4L Diesel Engine, On-Car Repair).

2. Remove and discard the differential lock adjusting nut.

NOTE: Do not remove the four screws securing the shift lever ball joint.


NOTE: Be careful not to damage the rubber seal when removing.


Remove the gear shift lever. Unscrew the 4 bolts.

Installation


1.
NOTE: Make sure the shift lever selector ball joint bushing and selector fork are centered before installing the special tool.


NOTE: Make sure the rubber gasket is aligned with the gear shift lever housing before installation.




Install the gear shift lever.
  • Make sure that third gear engages with the drive.
  • Install the gear shift lever.
  • Install the special tool on the gear shift lever.

Install the special tool on the gear shift lever.


2. Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 25 Nm).

3. Remove the special tool.

4. Install the new locking mechanism adjusting nut. Tighten the nut to 25 Nm.

5. Install the high/low range transfer case gear mechanism.
