The fuel filter is located at the rear of the engine behind the fuel cooler and is protected by the lower crankcase housing. The fuel filter assembly includes a bracket and a housing with a filter element.
The filter housing is fastened with an annular bracket, which is tightened with a bolt and nut. The bracket is attached to the inside of the right chassis beam with two screws. To remove the fuel filter, it is necessary to loosen the bolt with a nut and remove the filter housing from the ring bracket.
The volume of the filter element is 500 cm3 (30.5 inch3). The filter element retains particles larger than 2 microns. At the base of the filter is a drain plug for water sediment. To clean the filter from water, it is necessary to partially unscrew the plug of the filter element and drain the fuel through it into a suitable container. The plug must be tightened to the torque specified in the service manual.
