The fuel cooler uses engine cooling system coolant from the bottom of the radiator to lower the temperature of the fuel returned to the tank from the high pressure fuel pump.
The fuel cooler is mounted on the right side of the chassis near the rear of the engine next to the starter motor. The cooler is attached to the right chassis beam using a bracket. The bracket has two slots into which the plastic protrusions of the cooler body are inserted. To fix the cooler on the bracket, a bolt is inserted into the bracket hole and screwed into the nut embedded on the cooler.
There are four quick connect fittings on the cooler housing to connect the fuel inlet hose from the high pressure fuel pump, the fuel outlet hose to the fuel filter, the coolant inlet hose from the radiator, and the coolant outlet hose to the thermostat housing. The coolant lines can be distinguished by their smaller diameter.
