Examination
1. Check the correct operation of the ignition switch and engine start; leave the engine running.
2. With the vehicle stationary, turn the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other. Make sure the steering operates smoothly and check for any extraneous noise from the power steering pump or drive belt.
3. Check that all vehicle systems are working properly.
4. Check for any unusual sounds from the engine, transmission or suspension.
5. Check the operation of the brake system.
6. Check the smoothness of automatic transmission gear shifting.
7. Check the engine efficiency.
8. Check the operation of all instruments, indicators and alarms.
9. If possible, check the operation of the HDC system while driving downhill. If this requires covering a long distance, this test should be omitted.
10. After completing the bench and road tests, perform a final inspection of the vehicle by raising it on a lift.
