Conducting road tests (Discovery 1)

During road tests the following is checked:

• 1. Start inhibit switch (Automatic transmission in selector position P or N).
• 2. Engine (mostly increased noise).
• 3. Clutch (slipping, jerking).
• 4. Automatic transmission (gear shift moments).
• 5. Manual transmission (gear shift noise).
• 6. Steering (noise, turning effort).
• 7. Steering (clearances).
• 8. Pointers, indicators.
• 9. Heater and air conditioner.
• 10. Rear window defroster.
• 11. Shock absorbers (compression and rebound force).
• 12. Brakes (effective braking, sideways drift, brake pedal force).
• 13. Parking brake efficiency.
• 14. Seats.
• 15. Seat belts and their inertia mechanism.
• 16. Wheel balancing.
• 17. Transmission (vibrations).
• 18. Extraneous noises in the body.
• 19. Exhaust gas smoke.
• 20. Idle speed.
• 21. Maintenance records.
• 22. Conclusion on the condition of the vehicle and a list of additional operations.
