Checking seats and seat belts

Check the condition and reliability of the fastening of the seats, seat belts and their fasteners, and the operation of the inertia mechanism of the belts. Lubricate the seat back axles.

Checking brakes and clutch

If the pedal is "soft", bleed the corresponding system (see the "Bleeding the system" sections in chapters "Brakes" and "Clutch").

Check the condition of the hoses and tubes (no leaks of working fluid). Replace defective parts if necessary.

Checking the lamps

Check the operation of all lamps, horn and warning indicators.

Checking the windshield wipers

Check the operation of all windshield wipers and the condition of the rubber wiper elements.

Airbags

Check the pillow covers (no signs of damage). Replace the airbag unit every 10 years.

Checking the parking brake

Adjustment

1. Engage any gear (manual transmission) or move the selector to position "P" (automatic transmission).

2. Place chocks under the wheels of the car.

3. Release the parking brake lever.

4. Remove the switch block from the center console.

4. Remove the switch block from the center console.

5. Under the vehicle: Turn the parking brake adjuster clockwise until the brake shoes touch the drum.

6. Turn the regulator so that the drum can rotate.

7. By turning the cable adjusting nut (the nut has a notch and is located under the parking brake lever) adjust the cable so that the brake engages on the third click of the lever.

Note: The cable adjustment is ONLY used to compensate for cable length. DO NOT USE to compensate for brake pad wear, use the adjuster in the brake drum for this purpose.

8. Apply the parking brake several times to set the brake pads to the working position. Recheck the cable adjustment.

9. Reinstall the removed parts.
