This manual contains descriptions and methods for performing adjustments, maintenance and repairs based on proven and effective procedures. Following these procedures will ensure the reliability of the product.
Special tools
The Special Tools Chart, which precedes each procedure, lists the special tools needed to perform the repairs in that procedure. Whenever possible, illustrations are also provided to assist technicians in selecting the special tools needed and understanding their operation.
Specialty tools can be ordered from their manufacturer, SPX Tools. Representative addresses can be found in the Specialty Tools Glossary.
Important precautions
The use of proper maintenance techniques and the correct execution of repair procedures are important both for the safe, reliable operation of the vehicle itself and for the personal safety of the mechanic performing the job.
This manual cannot fully cover all options and provide recommendations and warnings for each of them. Anyone who intends to deviate from the instructions prescribed by this manual must understand that neither personal safety nor the vehicle itself must be sacrificed. And based on this, the necessary methods, tools and spare parts must be selected.
Individuals performing repair work on their own must have the appropriate skills or training. In addition, such individuals should limit repairs to those parts that do not affect the safety of the vehicle and passengers.
Any repairs to safety critical systems such as steering, braking, suspension and supplemental restraint systems should only be carried out by a Land Rover Dealer. Unqualified persons MUST NOT attempt to repair these systems.
As you read this manual, you will come across WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, and NOTES. If a warning, caution, or note applies to a series of items, it appears at the beginning of the sequence of actions. If it applies to only one item, it appears before that item (after the item number).

Equipment for troubleshooting
The car is equipped with a number of electronic control systems that ensure optimal operation of the car's systems.
Land Rover recommended diagnostic equipment is available and is mandatory for use in these cases. Use of this equipment enhances the diagnostic capabilities of the dealer repair shop. In particular, this equipment can be used to interrogate electronic systems to diagnose faults that may occur during the life of the vehicle.
This manual is intended to be used as a supplementary reference to the diagnostic equipment recommended by Land Rover.
The following are the features of the equipment:
- Full support for updating by a technical specialist
- Structured diagnostics covering all skill levels
- Possibility to print information and test results directly from the screen
Vehicle check
The operations described in this manual do not contain any reference to checking the vehicle after repair. After completion of repair work, it is important to inspect the quality and conduct a check and, if necessary, road test, especially when it comes to systems that affect safety.
Repair and spare parts
Land Rover parts are manufactured to the same exacting standards as the original factory fitted parts. That's why it's important to use only genuine Land Rover parts when servicing or repairing your vehicle.
Particular attention should be paid to the following points related to the repair and installation of spare parts and accessories.
The use of any replacement parts other than those recommended by Land Rover may adversely affect the safety and corrosion protection of the vehicle. In some countries, legislation prohibits the installation of parts on the vehicle that do not meet the manufacturer's specifications. Tightening torques should be adhered to where specified and locking devices should be used where necessary. If the effectiveness of the locking device is impaired when removed, the device must be replaced.
Vehicle owners who purchase accessories while travelling abroad must ensure that such accessories and their installation location on the vehicle comply with legal requirements.
Fitting parts to your vehicle other than those recommended by Land Rover may void your vehicle's warranty.
NOTE: Fitting parts and accessories other than those approved by Land Rover, or unauthorised modifications or alterations, may be dangerous. Any of the above actions may adversely affect the safety of the vehicle, driver and passengers and may invalidate the vehicle warranty.
All Land Rover recommended parts are fully covered by the vehicle warranty. Land Rover dealers are required to supply only parts recommended by Land Rover.
