Locking devices (Freelander 2)

Always replace locking devices with ones of identical design and size.

Lock washers with bending. tabs Always replace the tab washers with new ones when assembling. Do not reuse these lock washers.

Lock nuts. When loosening or tightening lock nuts, brake pipe nuts and fuel pipe nuts, always use two wrenches.

Cylindrical pins. When replacing a pin, the new pin must be selected according to the diameter of the mating hole in the part.

Retaining rings. When installing new retaining rings, select them according to the groove size.

Keys and keyways. The key is suitable for reinstallation only if it shows no signs of wear or deformation. Clean the edges of the keyway from burrs with a fine-cut file.

Split pins. Never attempt to straighten a cotter pin and reuse it. Make sure that new cotter pins are the correct size for the hole they are to be installed into.
