The following instructions are intended to ensure safe working conditions and the safety of the electrical and electronic equipment of the vehicle.

Equipment


Before diagnosing vehicle systems, make sure that the diagnostic equipment is in good condition, the connecting wires and tips are not damaged. Be sure to check the condition of the wires and tips of the device's power supply circuit.

Maintaining polarity


Connect the battery to the vehicle circuit correctly, and observe the correct polarity when connecting diagnostic equipment.

High voltage circuits


When disconnecting high-voltage wires under voltage, use pliers with insulated handles. Do not allow high-voltage wires to come into contact with other electrical components, especially the electronic control unit.

Cars with bi-xenon headlights


WARNING: When handling, the following instructions must be followed. Failure to follow the instructions may result in exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays, injury from high voltage, burns, or explosion.


  • All work should be carried out wearing special glasses and protective gloves.
  • Before removing the bulbs, make sure the headlights are off.
  • Do not touch the glass part of the lamp with your hands.
  • Under no circumstances should the headlights be turned on with the bulbs removed.
  • The lamps may only be checked when the lamps are installed in the headlights.
  • Used lamps must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.



Connectors and Wiring Harnesses


The engine compartment is a particularly unfavorable environment for electrical components and connectors. Always observe the following requirements:
  • Before disconnecting or connecting diagnostic equipment, make sure that the surface of electrical system components is dry and free of oil leaks.
  • Disconnectable connectors and sensors must be protected from oil, coolant or other liquids. Such contaminants may adversely affect the operation of the systems or cause failure.
  • Never disassemble electrical connectors by applying significant mechanical force or pulling force on the harness.
  • Before disconnecting the multi-pin connector, move the connector lock to the connector release position; before connecting the connector, make sure that the connector parts are correctly positioned relative to each other.
  • All protective elements (covers, cases) must be replaced if damaged.

Once you have determined that any component is faulty, follow the following sequence of actions:
  • Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery.
  • Remove the component. Secure the disconnected wiring harness in a hanging position.
  • When replacing a component, do not allow oily hands to touch electrical connectors; insert the connector into the mating part until the latch snaps into place.

Disconnecting/connecting the battery
