WARNING: When activated, parts of the air bag module become hot enough to cause burns. Wait 30 minutes after activation before handling the air bag module.


When activating the SRS components, the safety rules and sequence of actions specified in the Manual must be strictly observed. Only personnel who have undergone the necessary training are allowed to perform work on activating the SRS components. Strictly observe the following safety rules:
  • Use only special equipment for activation.
  • Activation of airbags and seat belt pretensioners should only be carried out in well-ventilated areas specially designed for this purpose.
  • Before activation, make sure that the airbags and seat belt pretensioners are not damaged in any way.
  • Notify the appropriate authorities of your intention to activate the airbags or seat belt pretensioners.
  • When activating the seat belt pretensioners, make sure there are no people within 15 meters (45 feet) of the activation point.
  • The activation device must be connected according to the instructions in the SRS section of this manual. Particular attention must be paid to the activation device being connected to the airbag connector first and THEN to the battery.
  • When activating the seat belt pretensioners, the pretensioner must be securely attached to the seat frame.
  • When removing deployed air bags or pretensioners, wear protective clothing. Wear gloves when handling deployed components. After removing from the vehicle, seal the deployed component in a plastic bag.
  • If any SRS component has deployed, all SRS components must be replaced. DO NOT reuse SRS components that have been removed from the vehicle.
  • Do not lean on the airbag while connecting the activation cables to the airbag connectors.

If the vehicle is to be recycled, the installed airbags and seat belt pretensioners must be activated. In this case, the airbags can be activated directly on the vehicle. Before activation, make sure that the airbag is securely fastened in place. Activating the driver's airbag directly on the vehicle may damage the steering wheel. If the vehicle is not intended for recycling, the airbag must be removed from the vehicle before it is activated.
