- Apply the parking brake or chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving forward or backward.
- If possible, remove the key from the ignition before carrying out any work on the vehicle.
- With the engine running, proper ventilation or the use of a suction hose to remove exhaust gases is essential.
- If it is necessary to lift the vehicle and remove the wheels, make sure there is enough space to do so.
- When performing any work in the engine compartment, always cover the fenders with protective covers.
- If possible, when working on the engine under the vehicle or on a jacked vehicle, disconnect the battery.
Before disconnecting the battery, read the section of this manual entitled "Disconnecting / connecting the battery".
When performing arc welding on a vehicle, always disconnect the generator electrical wires to avoid the possibility of damage to the internal components of the generator.
When carrying out welding work on the vehicle, a suitable fire extinguisher must always be available.
