Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.


CAUTION: Always disconnect both battery terminals before working on the SRS. Disconnect the negative terminal first.


Do not mix up the wires under any circumstances when connecting them to the battery.

Dismantling


1. Follow all safety rules when working with the passive safety system.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Safety precautions when working with the airbag system (SRS).


2. Remove the upper trim of the middle B-pillar of the body.

CAR INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Trim - "B" pillar - upper.


3. Remove the 2 screws securing the guide hinge and remove the hinge.

4. Loosen the Torx nut securing the upper seat belt support to the height adjustment mechanism.

5. Remove the Torx screw securing the seat belt retractor and remove the belt together with the retractor.

Assembly


1. Position the seat belt, install the retractor and tighten the Torx screw securing it to 31 Nm.



NOTE: If an SRS component needs to be replaced, record the bar code of the new component.


2. Install the seat belt support onto the vertical support adjustment mechanism and tighten the Torx nut to 31 N·m.

3. Install the guide loop and tighten the mounting screws to a torque of 6 Nm.

4. Install the upper trim of the middle B-pillar of the body.

5. Connect the battery terminals, the positive terminal first.
