Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

WARNING: Before carrying out work on passive safety systems, it is necessary to carefully read the relevant technical documentation.


WARNING: Always remove both battery terminals before operating Passive Safety systems (SRS). First disconnect the "negative" terminal. Never mix up the wires when connecting to the battery pack.

Dismantling


1. Follow all safety rules when working with passive safety systems.

2. Remove the cover and unscrew the nut that secures the positive terminal to the battery…


2. Remove the cover and unscrew the nut that secures the positive terminal to the battery disconnect unit. Move the positive terminal to the side.

3. Remove the cover and loosen the nut securing the emergency shutdown unit to the battery terminal.

4. Disconnect the connector from the battery emergency disconnect unit.



5. Remove the cover and unscrew the nut securing the emergency shutdown unit to the junction box body.

6. Remove the battery emergency disconnect unit.

Assembly


NOTE: If an SRS component needs to be replaced, record the bar code of the new component.


1. Make sure the battery terminals are clean.

2. Install the emergency shutdown unit into the junction box, screw on the nut and tighten it to a torque of 25 N·m. Install the cover.

3. Attach the emergency shutdown unit to the positive battery terminal and tighten the nut. Install the cover.

4. Place the "positive" terminal on the emergency shutdown unit, screw on the nut and tighten it to a torque of 25 N·m. Install the cover.

5. Connect the connector to the battery emergency disconnect unit connector.

6. Connect the battery terminals, the positive terminal first.
