Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.


WARNING: Before carrying out work on passive safety systems, it is necessary to carefully read the relevant technical documentation.


WARNING: Always remove both battery terminals before operating Passive Safety systems (SRS). First disconnect the "negative" terminal. Never mix up the wires when connecting to the battery pack.

Dismantling


1. Follow all safety rules when working with passive safety systems.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Safety precautions when working with the airbag system (SRS).


2. Remove the top cover of the control panel.

CAR INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Upper panel - control panel.


3. Remove the bottom panel.
CAR INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower control panel casing.


4. Remove the 8 Torx screws securing the airbag to the front of the instrument panel.


4. Remove the 8 Torx screws securing the airbag to the front of the instrument panel.

5. Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the airbag.

6. Release the airbag module from the control panel.



CAUTION: Do not allow the air bag module to hang by the power cable.


7. Disconnect the connector from the airbag module.


7. Disconnect the connector from the airbag module.

8. Remove the airbag module.

NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to provide access to other system components, no further disassembly operations should be performed.


CAUTION: Store the air bag model with the deployable side facing up. If the air bag is stored with the deployable side facing down, if it accidentally deploys, it will be thrown upward with sufficient force to cause serious injury.


WARNING: Store airbags or pretensioners in a specially designated place. If there is no such place, then store these elements in the trunk or luggage compartment of the car, informing the technician about this.


9. Remove the glove box lock assembly from the air bag module.

Assembly


NOTE: If a component of the passive restraint system needs to be replaced, the bar code of the new component must be recorded.


1. Install the glove box lock assembly to the air bag module.

2. Install the airbag module to the control panel and connect the connector to the module connector.

3. Install the airbag module screws and tighten them to 22 N·m.



4. Install and tighten the airbag module mounting screws.

5. Replace the bottom panel.

6. Install the control panel cover.

7. Connect the battery terminals, the positive terminal first.
