Checking oil pressure (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Examination

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Unscrew the oil pressure sensor contact.

V8 Engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil pressure sensor.

3. Fit the LRT-12-052/10 adapter to the oil filter head, connect the LRT-12-052C pressure gauge to the LRT-12-052/10 adapter, tighten the mounting nuts.

4. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.

5. Connect the negative battery terminal.

6. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

7. Record the oil pressure value with the engine running without load at 3500 rpm.

• The idle pressure should not be below 0.5 bar.
• Opening pressure of the pressure reducing valve (maximum pressure) equals 4.5 bar.

8. Turn off the engine.

9. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

10. Remove the LRT-12-052C pressure gauge.

11. Remove the LRT-12-052/10 adapter.

12. Wipe away any oil stains.

13. Install the oil pressure sensor.

V8 Engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil pressure sensor.

14. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.

15. Connect the negative battery terminal.
