Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.
GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.
Dismantling
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.
V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Engine soundproofing casing.
3. Remove the air duct.
HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.
4. Release residual pressure in the fuel supply system.
V8 ENGINE FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Relief of residual pressure.

5. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel rail.
CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.

6. Unfasten the 2 clamps securing the battery cable to the soundproofing casing brackets.

7. Release the heater pump from its rubber support cushions and move it to the side.
8. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the valve cover.
9. Remove the left ignition coil cover.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Left-hand ignition coil cover.

10. Unscrew the nut and remove the ground wire from the valve cover.

11. Disconnect the pads from the ignition coils.

12. Unscrew the 7 nuts securing the ignition coils to the valve cover. Remove the 4 ignition coils.
13. Discard the ignition coil cover gasket.

14. Unscrew the 8 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover to the cylinder head. Remove the valve cover, discard the 2 gaskets and 11 sealing washers.
Assembly
1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the valve cover and cylinder head.

2. Apply STC 50550 sealant to the areas shown in the figure.
3. Using 2 new gaskets and 11 sealing washers, install the valve cover onto the cylinder head.

4. Fit the 8 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover and tighten them in the sequence shown. Tightening torque 10 N·m.
5. Insert 4 ignition coils.
6. Screw on the 7 nuts securing the ignition coils to the valve cover and tighten them. Tightening torque 4 Nm.
7. Place the connectors on the ignition coils.
8. Place the ground wire on the valve cover and tighten the nut. Tightening torque 4 N·m.
9. Install a new ignition coil cover gasket.
10. Install the left ignition coil cover.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Left-hand ignition coil cover.
11. Connect the crankcase ventilation hose and tighten the clamp.
12. Attach the heater pump to the rubber pads.
13. Fasten the 2 battery cable ties to the soundproofing casing brackets.
14. Connect the fuel hose quick connector to the fuel rail.
15. Reinstall the air duct.

16. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

17. Connect the negative battery terminal.
