Left camshaft position control valve (VCC) (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Drain the coolant from the engine.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.

4. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose from the water pump.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the VCC solenoid valve.

6. Loosen the 2 bolts securing the VCC solenoid valve oil seal cover and remove the oil seal.

7. Install the LRT-12-226 socket head onto the valve timing control solenoid valve and remove the valve.

CAUTION: When removing the solenoid valve, do not allow oil to come into contact with the drive belts.

Assembly

1. Install the LRT-12-226 socket head onto the camshaft timing solenoid valve and screw in the valve.

2. Tighten the VCC solenoid valve. Tightening torque 25 N·m. Remove the LRT-12-226 head.

3. Wipe the VCC valve, valve seal and mating surfaces.

4. Lubricate the inner sealing surface of the VCC valve seal.

5. Install the solenoid valve seal, screw in the bolts and tighten them.

6. Connect the electrical connector to the solenoid valve.

7. Connect the cooling system hose to the liquid pump and secure it with a clamp.

8. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
