Oil temperature control valve (thermostat) (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the oil cooling pipes.

2. Unscrew the two thermostat housing mounting bolts (1), carefully pull out the housing together with the O-ring seal (2), thermostat (3), two washers (4), and spring (5).



3. Clean the mating surfaces.

4. Inspect the parts and replace if necessary.

Installation

5. Screw the thermostat into the filter housing.

6. Install the thermostat spring and two washers.

7. Replace the O-ring on the housing.

8. Install the thermostat housing and tighten the mounting bolts to 9 Nm.
