Engine oil pan (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Drain the engine oil.

3. Loosen the pan mounting bolts and use a sharp knife to cut the liquid gasket along the pan flange.

4. Remove the bolts and pan.

Installation

5. Clean the mating surfaces of the pan, block and timing belt cover housing.

6. Apply 2 mm of Hylosil RTV102 liquid gasket to the pan flange. Bypass the bolt holes from the inside of the pan.

7. Install the pan and tighten the mounting bolts to 25 Nm.

8. Fill with engine oil.

9. Connect the battery.
