Flywheel housing (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the gearbox (see chapter "R380 gearbox").

3. Remove the clutch (see chapter "Clutch").

4. Remove the flywheel.

5. Remove the starter.

6. Remove the 2 upper crankcase mounting bolts.

7. Remove the 4 lower crankcase mounting bolts.

8. Unscrew the 6 inner crankcase mounting bolts and remove the crankcase.

Installation

9. Remove any remaining gasket from the mating surfaces of the block and flywheel housing.

10. Apply sealant to the mating surface of the block.



11. Install the flywheel housing and tighten the mounting bolts in the reverse order of removal. Tightening torque 45 Nm.

12. Remove excess sealant.

13. Reinstall the removed parts.
