Note: The seal is installed in its own housing. When replacing, install the entire unit (1) together with the oil seal (3). The kit is sold together with the guide (2), which should only be removed after installing the unit on the engine. If the guide is missing, the unit must be returned to the seller. After removal, the guide must be discarded and cannot be used in another unit.

Removal



1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the gearbox (see chapter "R380 gearbox").

3. Remove the clutch (see chapter "Clutch").

4. Remove the flywheel.

5. Unscrew the five mounting bolts and remove the oil seal housing together with the gasket.

Installation

6. Tighten the guide pins as shown in the figure.

7. Hang the new oil seal housing assembly onto the guide studs.

8. Make sure that the housing seal fits precisely into the housing groove.

9. Install the oil seal housing onto the block. In this case, the guide must be removed.

10. Secure the housing with two bolts, unscrew the guide pins and install the remaining mounting bolts in their places.

11. Reinstall the removed parts.
