Right cylinder head valve cover gasket (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.

V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Engine soundproofing casing.


3. Remove the air duct.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.


4. Remove the right ignition coil cover.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Right bank ignition coil cover.


5. Unscrew the nut and remove the ground wire from the valve cover.

6. Disconnect the pads from the ignition coils.

7. Unscrew the 7 nuts securing the ignition coils to the valve cover. Remove the 4 ignition coils.


7. Unscrew the 7 nuts securing the ignition coils to the valve cover. Remove the 4 ignition coils.

8. Discard the ignition coil cover gasket.

9. Remove the dipstick tube.

10. Unscrew the 6 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover to the cylinder head. Remove the valve…


10. Unscrew the 6 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover to the cylinder head. Remove the valve cover, discard the 2 gaskets and 11 sealing washers.

Assembly


1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the valve cover and cylinder head.

2. Apply STC 50550 sealant to the areas shown in the figure.

3. Using 2 new gaskets and 11 sealing washers, install the valve cover onto the cylinder head.

4. Insert the dipstick tube.

V8 Engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil Dipstick Tube.


5. Fit the 6 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover and tighten them in the sequence shown.…


5. Fit the 6 nuts and 3 bolts securing the valve cover and tighten them in the sequence shown. Tightening torque 10 N·m.

6. Insert 4 ignition coils.

7. Screw on the 7 nuts securing the ignition coils to the valve cover and tighten them. Tightening torque 4 Nm.

8. Install a new ignition coil cover gasket.

9. Place the connectors on the ignition coils.

10. Place the ground wire on the valve cover and tighten the nut. Tightening torque 4 N·m.

11. Install the right ignition coil cover.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Right bank ignition coil cover.


12. Reinstall the air duct.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.


13. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Engine soundproofing casing.
