Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

Dismantling
1. Place the vehicle on a lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Remove the gearbox with the transfer case.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - ZF 5HP24, REPAIR WORK, Automatic transmission complete with transfer case - removal and installation.

4. Install the LRT-12-219 ring gear retainer.

5. Unscrew the 9 bolts securing the drive disk to the crankshaft.
6. Remove the torque converter drive disc with the LRT 12-219 lock.
Assembly
1. Clean the threaded sockets in the crankshaft body, wipe the drive disk mounting pin.
2. Wipe the mating surfaces of the torque converter and drive disk.
3. Install the drive disk on the crankshaft, install the LRT 12-219 locking tool.
4. Screw in new bolts securing the drive disk to the crankshaft and tighten them sequentially to a torque of 120 N·m.
5. Remove the LRT-12-219 retainer from the ring gear.
6. Install the gearbox with the transfer case.

7. Connect the negative battery terminal.
