Oil dipstick tube (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

Dismantling

1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Remove the oil dipstick.



4. Unscrew the 2 nuts securing the oil dipstick tube bracket to the valve cover.



5. Loosen the nut and remove the plate securing the oil dipstick tube to the oil pan.

6. Remove the dipstick tube, washer and O-ring. Discard the O-ring.

Assembly

1. Wipe the dipstick tube and mating surfaces on the oil pan.

2. Install a new O-ring on the pan, insert the dipstick tube with the washer into the pan.

3. Install the clamping bar and tighten the nut.

4. Install and tighten the 2 nuts securing the oil dipstick tube bracket to the valve cover.

5. Insert the dipstick.

6. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.

7. Connect the negative battery terminal.
