Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling


1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Remove the oil dipstick tube.

V8 Engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil Dipstick Tube.


4. Remove the power steering pump.

5. Remove the final drive.

6. Remove the oil receiver with the mesh filter.

7. Remove the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe to the oil pan and discard the two sealing…


7. Remove the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe to the oil pan and discard the two sealing washers.

8. Remove the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe from the oil filter to the oil pan and…


8. Remove the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe from the oil filter to the oil pan and discard the two sealing washers.



9. Unscrew the 4 bolts securing the oil pan to the flywheel housing.

10. Remove the 31 oil pan to cylinder block mounting bolts, noting the bolt locations as they vary…

  • A=M8 x 60 mm
  • B=M6 x 80 mm
  • C=M6 x 40 mm
  • The remaining bolts are M6 x 20 mm.

11. Remove the oil pan and discard the gasket.

Assembly


1. Wipe the pan and mating surface.

2. Install a new gasket on the pan, put the pan in its place, screw in the mounting bolts, but do not tighten them.

3. Tighten the 31 bolts securing the upper part of the oil pan to the cylinder block: M6 x 8.8 mm to 10 N·m, M6 x 10.9 mm to 12 N·m, M8 x 8.8 mm to 22 N·m.

NOTE: Mark the position of the M6 bolts as they have two different lengths.


4. Screw in 4 bolts securing the oil pan to the flywheel housing and tighten them to a torque of 53 N·m.



5. After installing 2 new sealing washers, screw in the hollow bolt securing the oil drain pipe from the oil filter to the oil pan and tighten it to a torque of 30 N·m.

6. Install the final drive.

7. Install the oil pickup pipe.

V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil receiver with mesh filter.


8. Install the power steering pump.

STEERING, REPAIR WORK, Power steering pump - V8.


9. Insert the dipstick tube.

V8 Engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil Dipstick Tube.


10. Connect the negative battery terminal.
