Replacing the torque converter (Discovery 1)

1. Remove the automatic transmission and transfer case.

2. Install the automatic transmission on a disassembly workbench. Using handles 18G1501, remove the torque converter, being careful not to damage the oil pump seal.

3. Install the new torque converter. Measure the distance from the crankcase mating surface to the torque converter drive clutch mounting bosses. When installed correctly, this distance is 50 mm.

4. Install the transfer case and automatic transmission on the engine.
