Before disconnecting the battery, carefully read the "Disconnecting the Battery" section and follow all instructions therein.
GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.
Removal
1. Place the car on a lift.
2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
3. Remove all fuel from the tank.

WARNING: Fuel leakage is inevitable during this operation. Take safety measures to prevent fire or explosion.

4. Unscrew 4 nuts and remove the right body cover to access the fuel tank.

5. Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump.
CAUTION: The ignition must be off when disconnecting the connector.
6. Remove the center console.

7. To access the parking brake cables, remove the middle section of the warm air duct to the rear passenger feet.

8. Remove the locking clip from the parking brake equalizer.
9. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the equalizer.
10. Remove the driveshaft.

11. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the body and move them to the side so that they do not interfere with further work.
12. Remove the plastic mudguard of the right rear wheel.

13. Loosen the filler pipe hose clamp and disconnect the hose from the filler pipe outlet.
WARNING: Fuel vapors are highly flammable and in a confined space they are also toxic and explosive. A fire extinguisher must be available in the room where fuel is removed from the fuel tank. (foam, carbon dioxide, gas or powder).
14. Disconnect the filler pipe hose and the fuel vapor canister hose from the mounting bracket on the filler pipe.
15. Remove the clamps from the filler pipe hose and the fuel vapor canister hose.
16. Remove the left rear wheel.
WARNING: It is strictly forbidden to work on or under a vehicle raised only on a lift (jack). In all cases, the vehicle must be supported on safety stands.

17. Remove the 16 bolts and 4 nuts securing the fuel tank protective covers.

18. Loosen the filler neck connecting hose clamp.
19. Disconnect the filler pipe from the filler neck connecting hose.
20. Assemble all fuel tank protective covers.

21. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the auxiliary fuel pump to the mounting brackets, bend the mounting brackets.
22. Prepare a suitable container for draining the remaining fuel.
23. Loosen the 2 clamps and disconnect the fuel hoses from the connections at the rear end of the pump.
CAUTION: Before disconnecting any system components, make sure that the areas immediately adjacent to the components to be disconnected are free of dirt. Close open ends of pipes with plugs immediately after disconnection to prevent foreign particles from entering the system.
24. Move the fuel pump to the side and secure it.

25. Together with an assistant, unscrew the 5 bolts securing the fuel tank to the body, lower it and remove it from the car.
NOTE: When lowering the fuel tank, the filler pipe and fuel vapor canister hoses must be pulled out through the body opening.

26. Remove the pre-heater booster pump from the rubber bracket.
27. Prepare a suitable container for draining any remaining fuel.

28. Loosen the clamp on the pre-heater pump delivery hose and disconnect the fuel hose from the pump.
NOTE: If the fuel tank was removed only to gain access to other system components, no further disassembly should be performed.
29. Disconnect the filler pipe hose and the canister hose from the fuel tank.
30. Remove the filler pipe hose and the fuel vapor canister hose.
31. Remove the 4 fasteners securing the strap clamps to the fuel tank. Remove the strap clamps.
Installation
1. Place the filler pipe and absorber hoses on the fuel tank fittings and secure them with clamps.
2. Install strap clamps on the fuel tank and secure them with fasteners.
3. Bring the fuel tank to the vehicle.
4. Place the pre-heater delivery hose onto the heater fuel pump fitting and secure with a clamp.
5. With the help of an assistant, install the fuel tank-to-body bolts and tighten them to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
NOTE: When installing the fuel tank, it is necessary to route the filler pipe and fuel vapor canister hoses through the body opening.
6. Install and secure the pre-heater pump to the mounting bracket.
7. Place the filler pipe hose onto the filler pipe fitting and secure with a clamp.
8. Route the absorber hose along the filler pipe.
9. Connect the filler pipe to the tank filler neck hose and secure with a clamp.
10. Connect the fuel hoses to the auxiliary fuel pump and secure them with clamps.
11. Secure the fuel pump with the mounting bolts.
12. Install the fuel tank cover bolts and nuts and tighten them to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
13. Install the plastic mudguard of the right rear wheel.

14. Install the wheel and tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).
15. Install the driveshaft.

16. Fill the fuel tank.

17. Reinstall the center console.

18. Connect the ground cable of the battery.
