Engine oil and oil filter


1. Change the engine oil and oil filter.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Draining and filling engine oil (303-01 Engine - ID4 2.4L Diesel Engine, General Procedures).

Steering gear housing


1. Check the steering gear housing for leaks.

2. Check that there is no side play in the steering gear when the wheels are in the straight ahead position. Adjust if necessary.

Manual transmission oil


WARNING: Avoid skin contact with used transmission fluid. Used transmission fluid contains potentially harmful contaminants that can cause skin cancer or other serious skin conditions.


1. Change the transmission oil.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Draining and Filling Transmission Fluid from the Transmission (308-03 Manual Transmission/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).

Transfer case oil


WARNING: Avoid excessive skin contact with mineral oil. Mineral oils strip the skin of its natural oils, causing dryness, irritation and dermatitis.


WARNING: The transfer case oil filler cap must not be used as a control cap for the transfer case oil level. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the vehicle.


1. Drain the transfer case fluid and measure its volume. For more information, refer to the chapter: Draining and Filling Transfer Case Transmission Fluid (308-07A Transfer Case - ID4 2.4L Diesel Engine, General Procedures). 2. Fill the transfer case with the recommended oil. For more information, refer to the chapter: Specifications (308-07A Transfer Case - ID4 2.4L Diesel Engine, Specifications).



Changing the oil in the transfer case


WARNING: Avoid excessive skin contact with mineral oil. Mineral oils strip the skin of its natural oils, causing dryness, irritation and dermatitis.
