General information
WARNING: The following instructions must be observed when lifting the vehicle.
- The vehicle must be parked on a level and firm surface.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Select position "P" (PARKING) on the automatic transmission selector or 1st gear on the manual transmission and high range, «H», in the transfer box.
- Select a low range in the transfer case.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the underbody of the vehicle, the following procedure for jacking up the vehicle must be strictly adhered to.
DO NOT INSTALL JACKS OR SUPPORTS UNDER THE FOLLOWING ITEMS.
- Body
- Bumpers
- Fuel lines
- brake lines
- Front trailing arms
- Diagonal torque rod (panhard rod)
- Steering gear
- Rear trailing arms
- Fuel tank
- oil sump crankcase
- gearbox housing
Car jack
The jack supplied with the vehicle is for emergency use only to change a tire in the event of a puncture. DO NOT use this jack for any other purpose. The jack installation locations and the sequence of actions are given in the Vehicle Operation Manual.
WARNING: Do not carry out any work on a vehicle supported only by a jack.
Hydraulic jack
Only hydraulic jacks with a minimum load capacity of 1500 kg should be used.
Warnings:
Do not work under the vehicle unless secure supports are in place.
Place wheel chocks under the wheels when lifting the vehicle. The parking brake should not be relied upon, as it becomes useless after the rear axle wheels come off.
Raising the front of the car
- Position the hydraulic arm head under the differential case.
NOTE: The differential case is not centered in the axle. Be careful when lifting the front wheels as the rear axle has less roll stiffness.
- Raise the front wheels to allow support to be placed under the left axle tube.
- Install a support under the tube of the right axle shaft, carefully lower the jack, making sure that the bridge is securely lowered onto both supports, remove the rolling jack.
- Before starting work on the bottom of the vehicle, check again that the vehicle is securely supported.
- To remove the vehicle from the stands, follow the steps in reverse order.
Raising the rear of the car
- Position the hydraulic arm head under the differential case.
- Raise the vehicle to allow the installation of supports under the pipes of the left and right axle shafts.
- Lower the jack so that the bridge is secure «sat down» on the supports. Remove the rolling jack.
- Before starting work on the bottom of the vehicle, check again that the vehicle is securely supported.
- To remove the vehicle from the stands, follow the steps in reverse order.
