The LT 77's five-speed, fully synchronized transmission is paired with a two-speed Borg Warner transfer case. The input, intermediate, and output shafts are mounted on tapered roller bearings.
All gears, including the reverse gear, rotate on needle bearings. Lubrication of the gearbox components is carried out forcibly by a built-in low-pressure oil pump; oil is supplied to the gearbox components through holes in the secondary shaft. The gearbox has a ventilation hole and a ventilation tube that runs into the engine compartment.
