Removal


1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Disconnecting and connecting the battery (414-01 Battery, Battery Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

2.
WARNING: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.


Raise the vehicle and place supports underneath it.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Lifting the vehicle (100-02 Jacking and lifting a car on a lift, Description and operating principle).

3. Remove the fuel line support bracket. Remove the nut.

3. Remove the fuel line support bracket. Remove the nut.


4. Disconnect the starter wiring harness clamp.

4. Disconnect the starter wiring harness clamp.


5. Disconnect the 2 positive battery cables and the switch wire from the starter solenoid.


  • 1. Remove the positive battery cable nut.
  • 2. Loosen the starter switch wire nut.

2. Loosen the starter switch wire nut.


6. Remove the lower starter bolt.

6. Remove the lower starter bolt.


7. Remove the starter.

7. Remove the starter.


Installation


1. Install the starter. Tighten (tightening torque 35 Nm).

2. Tighten (tightening torque 35 Nm).



2. Tighten (tightening torque 35 Nm).


3. Secure the 2 positive battery cables and the switch wire to the starter solenoid.
  • 1. Tighten (tightening torque 12 Nm).
  • 2. Tighten (tightening torque 8 Nm).

2. Tighten (tightening torque 8 Nm).


4. Secure the starter wiring harness clamp.

5. Install the fuel line support bracket. Tighten (tightening torque 8 Nm).

5. Install the fuel line support bracket. Tighten (tightening torque 8 Nm).


6. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
