Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Disconnecting and connecting the battery (414-01 Battery, Battery Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.

NOTE: Engine shown removed for clarity.

Remove the EGR valve.

• Remove 4 bolts.
• Remove and discard the two gaskets.

Installation

1. Install the EGR valve.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the elements.
• Install new gaskets.
• Tighten the M6 bolts to 10 Nm.
• Tighten the M8 bolts (tightening torque 23 Nm).

2. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector.



3. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
