Before disconnecting the battery, carefully read the "Disconnecting the Battery" section and follow all instructions therein.

Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.
TD6 ENGINE, REPAIR WORK, Engine soundproofing casing.

3. Loosen the clamp on the air hose between the charge air cooler and the EGR valve and disconnect the air hose from the valve. Remove and discard the air hose clamp.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
5. Loosen the screw and remove the clamp securing the exhaust gas supply line to the EGR valve.
CAUTION: Close open ends of pipes immediately after disconnection with plugs to prevent foreign particles from entering the system.

6. Remove the 4 EGR valve mounting bolts and remove the valve. Remove and discard the old EGR valve seal.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the exhaust gas supply line and the EGR valve.
2. Install a new EGR valve seal into the intake manifold bore.
3. Install the EGR valve and tighten the mounting bolts to 10 N·m (7 ft·lbs).

4. Secure the exhaust pipe with a clamp.
5. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
6. Clean the mating surfaces of the EGR valve and the air hose from the charge air cooler to the EGR valve.
7. Secure the air hose to the EGR valve pipe with a new clamp. Tighten the clamp screw to 6 N·m (4.4 lb ft).
8. Wait 10 minutes and retighten the clamp screw to 6 N·m (4.4 ft·lbs).
9. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

10. Connect the ground cable of the battery.
