Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine.

3. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.

4. Remove the turbocharger air inlet hose.

5. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) heat exchanger.

6. Remove the 2 bolts securing the heat shield and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe to the…


6. Remove the 2 bolts securing the heat shield and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe to the exhaust manifold.

7. Pull the heat shield completely away from the tube flange (EGR).

8. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe.

9. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the cooling system distribution pipe.


9. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the cooling system distribution pipe.



10. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the distribution tube from the thermostat housing.

11. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

12. Remove the 4 bolts and the thermostat housing from the coolant pump. Discard the gasket.

Assembly


1. Clean the thermostat housing and mating surfaces.

2. Install the thermostat housing, tighten the mounting bolts and tighten them to 8 Nm.

3. Connect the lower radiator hose and secure it with a clamp.

4. Install the cooling system distribution pipe and secure it with a clamp.

5. Screw in the distribution pipe mounting bolts and tighten them. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

6. Wipe the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube and mating surface.

7. Install the exhaust gas bypass pipe, heat shield, and Torx bolts, but do not tighten them yet. The bolts are tightened after installing the exhaust gas bypass heat exchanger. The tightening torque is 25 Nm.

8. Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) heat exchanger.

9. Install the turbocharger air inlet hose.

10. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal.

12. Fill the engine with coolant.
