Cooling system distribution pipe (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling


1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Drain the coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.


4. Remove the air intake receiver.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.


5. Remove the throttle body.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Throttle body.


6. Unscrew the bolt securing the engine harness to the distribution pipe.


6. Unscrew the bolt securing the engine harness to the distribution pipe.

7. Disconnect the heater pipes from the distribution pipe.

8. Release the harness from the two clamps on the distribution pipe.

9. Unscrew the bolt securing the electrical connector to the flywheel housing.


9. Unscrew the bolt securing the electrical connector to the flywheel housing.



10. Release the transfer case crankcase ventilation hose from the retainer.

11. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the distribution pipe to the cylinder heads.


11. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the distribution pipe to the cylinder heads.

12. Secure the cooling system pipes and remove the distribution pipe.


12. Secure the cooling system pipes and remove the distribution pipe.

13. Remove the clamps holding the harness.

14. Discard O-rings and gaskets.

Assembly


1. Wipe the distribution pipe and mating surfaces on the cylinder head.

2. Install new O-rings on the pipe.

3. Install the clamps that hold the harness.

4. Install the distribution pipe with new gaskets on the cylinder heads, screw in the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.

5. Secure the transfer case crankcase ventilation hose to the retainer.

6. Screw the connector mounting bolt into the flywheel housing and tighten it to a torque of 25 N·m.



7. Secure the harness with clamps.

8. Connect the heater tubes to the distribution pipe.

9. Screw in the engine harness mounting bolts to the distribution pipe and tighten them. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

10. Install the throttle body.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Throttle body.


11. Install the air intake receiver in place.

V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Engine soundproofing casing.


12. Connect the negative battery terminal.

13. Fill the engine with coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.
