Coolant pump gasket (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling


1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Remove the thermostat.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Thermostat.


4. Remove the fan with viscous coupling.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.


5. Remove the accessory drive belt.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Attachment drive belt - V8 engine.


6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine cooling system pump and…


6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine cooling system pump and from the generator.

7. Remove the bolt securing the clamp that holds the SAI hose from the coolant pump.


7. Remove the bolt securing the clamp that holds the SAI hose from the coolant pump.



8. Loosen the bolt securing the SAI hose to the left cylinder head.


8. Loosen the bolt securing the SAI hose to the left cylinder head.

9. Loosen the bolt securing the SAI hose to the right cylinder head.

9. Loosen the bolt securing the SAI hose to the right cylinder head.

10. Remove the SAI hoses from the cylinder heads and set them aside. Discard the O-rings.

11. Using the LRT-12-215 tool, hold the coolant pump pulley and loosen the 4 pulley mounting bolts.


11. Using the LRT-12-215 tool, hold the coolant pump pulley and loosen the 4 pulley mounting bolts.



12. Unscrew the 4 bolts securing the coolant pump pulley and remove the pulley.

13. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector.


13. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector.

14. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the cooling system pump and remove the pump.


14. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the cooling system pump and remove the pump.

NOTE: When removing the pump, do not allow the tubes to become disconnected from the manifold. If the tubes become disconnected from the manifold, the O-rings must be replaced.


15. Remove the 2 O-rings from the coolant pump and discard them.

16. Wipe the areas where the gasket will be installed.

NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to provide access to other system components, no further disassembly operations should be performed.


17. Remove the coolant temperature sensor and discard the sealing washer.



Assembly


1. Place a new sealing washer on the coolant temperature sensor, screw it in and tighten it to 14 N·m.

2. Lubricate new O-rings and install them into the grooves on the pump body.

3. Install the coolant pump with a new gasket on the engine. Tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 10 N·m.

4. Connect the coolant temperature sensor connector.

5. Wipe the mating surfaces of the pump pulley and the coolant pump flange. Install the pulley and tighten the mounting bolts by hand.

6. Using the LRT-12-215 tool, hold the coolant pump pulley and tighten the 4 pulley mounting bolts. Tightening torque: 10 N·m.

7. Lubricate new sealing rings and install them on the afterburner tube. Install the afterburner tube and tighten the mounting bolts. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

8. Connect the cooling system hoses to the system pump and to the generator.

9. Install the accessory drive belt.

10. Install the thermostat.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Thermostat.


11. Install the viscous coupling fan.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.


12. Connect the negative battery terminal.
